What tips can we give you?
Remember P O G U I N and remember our advice. It is based on a great deal of research, a summary of which you can find by clicking here.
-
Protect yourself in hot
sun with tightly woven clothing, a wide-brimmed hat and UV
protection sunglasses especially between the hours of 10am and 4pm.
-
Off comes the clothes
and on goes a lavish layer of sunscreen. Use a sunscreen offering
protection from both UVb and UVa radiation, SPF15 or above. Paste
the sun cream / sun tan lotion on to your skin about 20 minutes before
you sunbathe, again 20 - 30 minutes after you have been in the sun.
Then again at least every two hours after that. Use plenty of
sunscreen each time - about 6 teaspoon-fulls for an average body
covering!
-
Grabbing a towel? Cover
yourself with sunscreen after you have wiped yourself down.
-
Use any shade you can between
the hours of 10am and 4pm. Sunbathe outside these hours.
-
In for a dip? Re-apply
when you come out. No sunscreen is waterproof. Remember UV light
both penetrates water and reflects well off the surface.
-
Need an easy,
non-messy, fun way to cover children, or even yourself, with
sunscreen? Look out for a Poguin Pod near the pool or on your local
beach.
But most of all, RELAX ... CHILL OUT...
... do it all with a smile on your face and enjoy what the sun, the beach and the surf have to offer.
